“These days everyone is juicing up”: experiences of living with HIV and AIDS in Masvingo Province, Zimbabwe
Loveness Makonese, Rhodes University, South Africa
Lillian Siziba, University of Zimbabwe
The Human Immune Virus (HIV) and Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) is a pandemic that has worsened the plight of vulnerable communities and environments in Africa. Many studies have been conducted on the impact of HIV and AIDS on individuals and households, however very few of these studies have incorporated the individual experiences and intra household and household dynamics that are a result of living with the impacts of HIV and AIDS. This through learning from the methodological limitations of the majority of HIV and AIDS studies that are in existence has tried to adopt a mixed method approach in order to come up with an empirical study whose methodologies are sensitive ,and can capture the various contextual issues for HIV and AIDS affected.
